About Me

Ella J. McConville is a photographer born and raised in Liverpool. Originally from Aigburth, she has always been drawn to photography, travelling, and the outdoors.

To hone her skills and gain confidence behind the camera, Ella took to exploring Liverpool by bike, capturing portraits of strangers along the way. A natural people person, she quickly discovered the joy of connecting with others through her photography. This hands-on experience sparked a deep passion for portraiture that continues to shape her work today.

Inspired by the work of female portrait photographer Rosie Matheson, Ella became motivated by a desire to make herself, her family, and her hometown proud. Liverpool’s vibrant and creative community has been an ongoing source of support for Ella. Many local artists and collaborators have provided opportunities that have helped her grow both as an artist and as a professional.

In 2024, Ella was chosen as one of the winners of the Ant Clausen Fire It Up Fund. She credits this recognition as a pivotal moment in her career. Alongside receiving funding for a new camera, she gained invaluable opportunities, including hosting her first solo exhibition at Bold Street Coffee Liverpool and will now be hosting her second solo exhibition at Bold Street Coffee Manchester. Looking ahead, Ella continues to challenge herself, experiment with new approaches, and push her creative boundaries, always with her camera in hand.
